A while ago we talked about some of the dirtiest produce there is… but the reality is that ALL produce should be washed to remove dirt, germs, and pesticides. I’m not a fan of buying separate washes for everything, so I stumbled upon a very SIMPLE rinse that you can make at home to rid your produce of all the “bad” stuff! I found this recipe from a great Instagram page that you should follow if you’re interested in living green! (Which you should ALL be!
What you’ll need:
- Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
- Lemons
- Water
- A jar that seals (to store your cleanser!)
How to make the cleaner:
- Mix 1 cup ACV with the juice of 2 lemons and 1 cup of water in the jar you’ve chosen.
- Shake and store in the fridge for use for up to one month
How to use it:
- Fill your sink with cold water and pour 1 cup of the homemade cleanser in.
- Put your produce in the sink and let it soak for about 10 minutes.
- Rinse and dry your produce
NOTE: soft fruits like raspberries will absorb the vinegar if they soak too long, so only drop them in for a brief swim and make sure to rinse them well!
Great tip! I have a veggie garden that is about to inundate me with more food than I can reasonably consume before it goes bad. I will use this recipe to clean and share my harvest.
